I find Forensic Science a very fascinating thing. I quite enjoy watching CSI shows, especially NCIS! Therefore I was both curious and excited to what this Forensic Science Module might entail.
Every class we had was different and interesting. We were each given a booklet at the start of the module, to fill in as we went along. This booklet would be, in essence, our project that we could present once we had finished the module. We covered an incredible amount of topics such as: sketching crime scenes based on a series of photos, fingerprints, odontology, hair, tyre tracks, eyewitnesses and many more. My favorite topic would probably have been when we had to identify our own fingerprints! It was interesting to discover how everyone has a unique set of fingerprints. I had mainly loops and whorls, which are the two most common patterns for fingerprints. Sophie Pierce seemed to have a very unique pattern on many of her fingers, an arch, which seemingly less than 10% of the human population have! We finished the module by watching a thrilling episode of CSI which summarised a lot of the information we had learnt during the module. In conclusion I really enjoyed this module and feel I have learnt a lot of valuable information about Forensic Science that I did not know before!

The Leaders: Nelson Mandela and Winston ChurchillI personally find leadership an interesting and fascinating topic, that can be explored in many different ways. It interests me how it is possible for one individual to gain support from hundreds of people, how people can rise to power and how leaders can make such a differences in the lives of ordinary people in positive and negative ways. For this module we watched and analysed a few movies. Firstly we watched the movie 'Money Ball' which I thought was a great movie. It was about one person wanting to change baseball for the better, by using statistics. It was about how statistics revolutionized baseball.
We also watched the movie 'Invictus' about how Mandela used rugby to unite South Africa, a country that was separated by the colour of their skins. I would later use the message of this movie as a foundation for the section of my leadership project on Mandela. Lastly we watched the movie 'Couch Carter' which I think was very inspirational and clearly demonstrated the key traits of a leader. I decided to do my project on Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill as they are both impressive leaders who both fought for their causes. It was interesting to compare these two leaders, as I had not noticed the similarities and differences between these leaders before. Below is a copy of my Leadership Project! For our Chinese Project Lily and I decided on creating a detailed yet entertaining presentation on the Beijing 2008 Olympics! We spent a few weeks gathering all the information about the 2008 Olympics from various websites and books. We aspired to explain the 2008 Olympics to our class from a different angle. As opposed to simply giving facts and statistics about the sports played, the athletes and the countries participating, we looked at the bid, the planning of the Olympic Games, at the opinions of influential world leaders on the Beijing Olympics as well as the controversy surrounding the Games. Also we thoght we would include a few interesting facts on the Chinese flag, capital and national anthem for a bit of variety!
Chinese Culture is a fascinating module which really opens my eyes to the world. It makes me more aware of different cultures and reasons why these cultures evolved. Ms Molloy is a great and fun teacher! We learn almost everything about China from Chinese Marriage Traditions(we actually re-created one in the classroom!) to Chinese Ethnic Minorities to Chinese Festivals. We also learned howto say a few sentences in Mandarin! Lily and me did a project together on the Beijing 2008 Olympics and presented it to the class on the 30th of Septemeber 2016. Just a snapshot of some assignments we had in Chinese Culture, to give you an idea of what we're doing.
